Where to Find Snow in LA
There aren’t many opportunities that you get to see snow when you live in Los Angeles. My kids have never seen snow before, except for in the movie FROZEN. But this weekend they will have the opportunity, thanks to the annual Studio City Winter Family Festival. We have never gone as a family before, but my oldest was too little. Now that she has turned 3, I think she will appreciate the touch of cold snow when she makes her first snow angel!
This year’s event will be held at the Studio City Recreation Park (a.k.a. “Beeman Park) from 1:00 – 4:00pm. They’ll have 70 tons of snow for sledding and snowman building, live music, free photos with Santa, crafts, face painting, food trucks and more!
On-site they will also have a “Festival of Giving”, which encourages kids and families to give back with charitable donations. If you go, please remember to bring something to donate. This year, they are looking for these types of items:
o Canned/packaged food (no glass please)
o New, unwrapped toys
o Pet food/pet toys
o New/gently-used children’s books
o New/gently-used clothing and blankets
Everyone who donates items will be entered to win four (4) complimentary one-day admission tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood with Front of the Line passes, courtesy of NBCUniversal. The donations benefit the LAPD North Hollywood Division Gift and Food Drive, the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry, St. Charles Service Center, Pet Orphans, Aviva Family & Children’s Services; and Iris Blossom Charities.
